I’m Nicola Griffiths - a breathwork facilitator, creative practitioner and founder of Grown Ass Women Collective. As a Black woman and mother, I understand how difficult it can be to find spaces that genuinely centre rest, reflection and care without judgement.
I created GAWC to offer women of colour opportunities to pause, reconnect and feel supported in the company of others who may share or deeply understand parts of their lived experiences.
This is often the first question people ask and at its simplest, breathwork is the practice of moving from our usual automatic way of breathing into something more intentional. By bringing gentle awareness to the breath, we can begin to shift how we feel in the body, creating space to slow down, settle and listen inward.
If you’ve ever prayed, sung, danced, sighed deeply or taken a breath to steady yourself, you’ve already experienced how breath can shift what you feel. This is simply a guided space to explore that more intentionally.
Breathwork can support:
Women of colour navigating burnout, grief, transition, caregiving, stress or simply needing space to pause.
Breathwork, grounding practices, deep listening, reflection and intentional rest in spaces designed to feel supportive, accessible and culturally aware. No previous breathwork experience is needed.
